After rousing Danilo enough to get his address, he input it into his GPS. Quinn had been right, it was only roughly a ten-minute drive from his own place. After a quick call to Turk to let him know what was going on and to make sure James was behaving himself, he began the drive back to the city. Danilo dozed, giving Hisoka a chance to think over the crazy events of the past few weeks.

He’d realized that his ex-Dom had definitely become fixated on him and so had chosen to escape by moving away from his family, relocating to a new a city and new job, hoping to get his life back. So far, things had been good - new friends, new job, even a new favorite place to grab a bite to eat. He’d even found a new place to play and beside him, a man he hoped to explore more with. The fly in the ointment was the rose under his windshield wiper and the information Damian Stackhouse had shared with him.

“Word is, Jeff Heyers has put his practice up for sale. He’s got someone else filling in for him right now and gone on vacation. He told his employees that he was getting over a broken heart and taking some time for himself. That was two weeks ago and no one has seen him in person since, but it seems his Instagram had pictures of him dated a week ago, on his boat. The location was disabled, so I’m not saying he’s here, but you might want to be careful. If he’s been that persistent, I don’t see him giving up.”

Hisoka gripped the steering wheel tighter. I should have taken Mac’s advice and gone for that restraining order. I did file that complaint about the incident back in I.B.; the cop who took it would have his name on that, surely. I think my copy is in the dresser drawer? Or I could just go for some pancakes on Saturday and see if Mac is in and get the name of a lawyer who’ll file with the court for me, like I keep saying to myself. Or see who Damian recommends for a lawyer. Do I even need a lawyer to file for a restraining order? The police only enforce those and a judge will need the paperwork to be a hundred percent correct to issue the order. He wished he’d paid more attention to police procedurals. He was more of a cooking show kind of guy. Cooking shows, animal rescue, and cozy mysteries. Cozy mysteries did not usually have people going through the motions of getting restraining orders on-screen. Nope, they have dead bodies found by dog walkers or someone dies at a village fete.

Danilo stirred beside him, sitting up and blinking sleepily. “Wow. Sorry, I don’t usually zone out that much. I mean, yeah,” he blushed adorably, “I often reach subspace, but after only just bondage, I usually snap out of it pretty quickly once the ropes are off.
